Comment: I never knew what love was until I experienced the love of Auntie Helen. Auntie Helen feeds San Diegans, clothes the disabled and contributes to the cities thrift culture with affordable pricing that funds all of the outreach. It’s a very fun and vibrant shopping experience with dedicated and caring staff and volunteers. You can tell the management is on board with the mission, reportedly volunteering time for the organization as well. Without this little place, San Diego would be one step backwards.

Comment: This is my very favorite thrift store. Staff are fun, knowledgeable, and caring. Not only does Auntie Helens have a fabulous selection of goodies, they also do many things to support the community, and (unlike other charity shops) they do not discard or destroy, they find a home for every single item. This is the only shop I donate to, and pretty much the only one I shop at.

Comment: Auntie Helen’s is the best thrift store in all San Diego. Not only do they support and give a voice to the LGBTQ community, they also help feed the homeless daily. I didn’t even know about it until I started volunteering here. It truly feels like you’re giving back to your community and working with your neighbors here vs big name charities where you just feel like another number. Rod and his team care about your contribution and always welcome you with a smile. There are so many hidden gems and top brands here as far as clothes, antiques and appliances and right in the heart of north park too. Their prices are justified being they are a charity and your donation helps feed and provide for many souls who need the help. I can’t say enough good things about it. Keep up the amazing work Auntie Helen’s :)

Comment: One gentlemen was very kind and the other not so kind. One of two cannisters I had bought had old cookies in it that were so old, they were powdery. The not so nice gentlemen dumped out those cookies, but didnt bother to clean out the mess left by those old cookies and just put it in a bag. I took the cannister out of the bag, and cleaned it out myself and that gentleman told me to please move youre in the way ... Not cool telling that to a senior disabled woman, who uses an Upright Walker for mobility... Other than that, I would have given this secondhand store a higher rating* * * UPDATE * * *Oh WOW, I just got an unexpected but delightful response from the Owner!🤗 That definitely notched up my review rating and gained my even more utmost respect for this establishment and the charitable work they do in the community. Thank you so much, kind Sir!👍💜🕊️

Comment: Fabulous find of a thrift store! Beat throat store that is also a non profit on San Diego. Rod helped us around and shared the promos they were having. This shop has so much history and helps the community. They have a lot of great merchandise and are so friendly. Definitely look them up and shop as well as support a good cause!

Comment: I recently volunteered there and I was most impressed with the caliber of people working or volunteering there, and that its well managed and quite clean. Ive shopped at every thrift store around central San Diego and their prices are among the lowest. I got the feeling of a deep, well established pool of local community donors who help keep the inventory fresh daily with quality stuff. And of course, hats off to them for donating their proceeds to other local non profits who provide love to our brothers and sisters affected by HIV.
